WORK: Featured Projects: OVERVIEW

Chaintreuil Jensen & Stark Architects LLP has recently completed the expansion of the Strong Museum. This expansion gives the museum a new street presence transforming it into a major gateway for the City of Rochester.

The 105,000 square foot addition includes a new 40,000 square foot exhibit gallery and an educational wing with classrooms, offices and multipurpose rooms. New special exhibit pieces have been added on all sides of the existing facility, transforming the identity of the museum and clearly communicating the Museum’s mission as the “National Museum of Play”. These figural exhibit pieces include a live butterfly conservatory, a new central atrium, and an interpretive exhibit on the importance of play in our lives and culture.

The project has achieved LEED-Silver certification and includes a new central plant and cogeneration facility.
